CBe-F. Ozias Lewis, b. Oct. 6, 1749/50 at Guilford, Conn. (Mary 3, John 2, Wm.1). m. Jan. 7, 1773, Lucy, dau. of Daniel and Abigail Bigelow. She was b. Nov. 8, 1702 at Hartford. He was a grand Juror, in 1773 and a signer of the pledge of the first temperance society in the United States in 1789.

He d. Mar. 8, 1812 and his widow d. April 19, 1840. Their gravestones are standing and read:

           "Sacred to the memory of Ozias Lewis 
            Who died March 8, 1812, aged 62. 
     "Who loved thee living and laments thee dead 
     "Paye this last tribute to they gentle shade. 
                  "Lucy, relict of Ozias Lewis, b. Nov. 18, 1752. 
                   died April 19, 1840.  Easter morning."

There is a record: "Daniel Maltby, b. Aug. 5, 1786, son of John and Esther Johnson Maltby." Was this a marriage? Whis has been impossible to straighten.

CDA-A. Elizabeth Maltby, bp. 27 Mar. 1726, New Haven (Wm.3, Wm.2, Wm.1). m. May 15, 1754, Dr. Thaddeus Betts, b. May 5, 1724, M. D. Yale College, 1745. He was a prominent person in the time of the Rev. War, and a "highly respected physcian." Elizabeth was his 2nd wife, and they were married at Stamford, Conn. His first wife was Mary Gold, dau. of John Gold. Thaddeus Betts was born at Norwalk. He was a son of John (3), John (2), Thomas (1) Betts.

Elizabeth died Feb. 8, 1789, and he m. (3) Eleanor (Holmes) Fairchild Lyman. Dr. Betts died at Ridgefield, Conn. Mar. 22, 1807 in his 83rd year.
